Finishing
Most common Sheet Metal finishes
- Powder Coating – Durable, uniform finish available in many colors and textures
- Anodizing – Primarily for aluminum; increases corrosion resistance and allows for color
- Electroplating – Adds a thin layer of metal (e.g., zinc, nickel, chrome) for corrosion resistance or aesthetics
- Galvanizing – Zinc coating (hot-dip or electro-galvanized) to protect steel from corrosion
- Passivation – Chemical treatment for stainless steel to remove surface contaminants and improve corrosion resistance
- Alodine / Chromate Conversion Coating – Used on aluminum to improve paint adhesion and corrosion resistance
- E-Coating (Electrophoretic Painting) – Uniform, corrosion-resistant coating applied via electrical current
- Black Oxide – Common for steel; provides minimal corrosion resistance and a matte black finish
- Paint / Wet Paint – Available in a wide range of colors; less durable than powder coat
